Lamentations 3
Lamentations 3:22–26 · King James Version · 5 verses
It is of the LORD’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.
They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.
The LORD is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him.
The LORD is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him.
It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the LORD.
About this reading
These five verses come from Lamentations 3, a chapter that opens in affliction and darkness. Here the speaker turns to hope, saying that the compassions of the Lord fail not, that they are new every morning, and that it is good to hope and quietly wait. In the King James Version the book is titled "The Lamentations of Jeremiah".
